It takes a lot to admit you were wrong and eat humble pie, but fair play to Mares that although they originally dismissed the whole split fin concept, they have now got fully behind the idea. Their new Raptor Fins have taken the split fin concept to a whole new level or performance and style. Although the basic split within the design of the Raptor Fin is standardised, under the Natures Wing liscence, the construction material; foot pocket and outer edges are all down to Mares. The slim central blade is centred between two exceedingly strong sidebars, increasing its power output considerably over other similar designs. To eliminate the issues related to interrupting the water-flow over the fin, as the foot pocket joins the blade, Mares have used a single continuous moulding to join the sections together. As with all fins, getting them on and off can be a pain unless you really are double jointed, so the inclusion of the new ABS Strap and Buckle system on the Raptor Fins is a welcome relief. All in all if you are looking to treat yourself to a new set of fins, then we would more than strongly recommend the new Mares Raptor Fins.
